Tomorrow, 08/19/2024 will be the rise of the full Moon in the sign of Aquarius.

This moon deserves a short blog post since it is special and rare in every way.

A full moon occurs when the moon is at 180 degrees from the sun – or opposite the sun. The moon shines not because of its own light, it reflects the light of the sun. This is why – except on a full moon – we only see part of it lit up. When the moon is full, its position is opposite to the sun allowing it to reflect the sunlight from its entire surface which makes it appear as a round, full moon in the night sky.

This full Moon is very special as it´s both a supermoon and a blue moon. A supermoon is when the full moon’s orbit is closest to earth making it appear larger and brighter as usual.

A blue moon isn’t necessarily blue, also it can be due to atmospheric effects, Wikipedia explains that a blue moon refers either to the presence of a second full moon in a calendar month, to the third full moon in a season containing four.

According to NASA, a supermoon that is also a blue moon is very rare, occurring roughly once in a decade.

This rarity is where the saying ´every once in a blue moon´ most probably comes from.

How will this August super-blue moon in Aquarius affect you?

Well, I´d say buckle up, you´re in for a tough ride. 

Do you feel triggered easily these days? Or are you maybe the one who does the triggering?

Do you feel like you just want to hide in a cave never to come out again?

Let me tell you, you are most definitely not alone. 

While the full moon tends to bring some sort of melancholy or moodiness with it, this one seems to just try and get the warrior out of you.

This is due to the many squares this full moon forms in the zodiac at the moment. I´m not an astrologer, so I won’t get deeper into the squares and other shapes at play right now.

However, the aspects the zodiac forms which are being illuminated and therefore pointed out by the bright light of a full moon, have a lot to do with how much and which aspect of ourselves the moon influences.

One of the biggest aspects to point out though, is that Mercury is still in retrograde and the Sun is still in Leo.

Mercury in retrograde has to do with the ´underworld´. Since it’s currently moving through the zodiac sign of Leo, it highlights our inner self, being retrograde, we are talking inner demons, or shadow-work. 

This is tough, really tough. It’s like a rough awakening that can feel shocking as all the dark stuff we have not been willing to accept about ourselves bubbles up. It forces us to see parts about ourselves that we deny.

We get triggered easily by others as we project these inner demons onto them and might subconsciously feel exposed by the most probably innocent things they say to us.

This is a time to reflect and remember the holy grail is on the other side of the darkest night of your soul.

This full Moon in Aquarius invites you to ask yourself – Where am I not true to myself?

Is there anything that causes me to feel guilt or shame?

What triggers me and why? What is the real reason this person makes me want to put on my armor and go to war?

But there is light at the other side of the tunnel.

Aquarius helps us to distance ourselves and find a bird’s eye view from the very personal Leo energy.

So don´t worry, just stick with it and flow with the energy.

If you need a minute to yourself, take it. This is a time of self-care for your inner self.

Accept the shadow aspects of yourself that are coming up, have compassion with yourself when you face your inner demons, and embrace this tough but oh so worth it awakening to a better version of yourself.

A transformation this intense means going through fire but it also means coming out on the other side stronger than ever before as you learn to know yourself and become empowered to express that part of you that you have been denying for so long.

This full Moon in Aquarius is like a spiritual detox and purification.

The hidden beauty of the challenging energy this August´s full Moon in Aquarius brings, is that going through fire brings purification. It´s like a detox for your soul if you let it come up and out.

And I don’t mean let it out on other people. Rather accept it and reflect on it, don´t repress it because you don’t want to see yourself like this. Take a few minutes to calm your mind, meditate and think about what you just learned about yourself. Your emotions are your inner guidance and they will tell you exactly where you´re at if you listen to them without judgment.

And I know you have somewhere you want to be. How are you going to know how to get there if you don’t know where you´re at?

This kind of reflection is spiritual purification at its finest. It helps you unblock your essence so you can be authentic and remove anything that keeps you from expressing your souls´ uniqueness in this life.
