Ask and the Tarot will answer!

In my first blog about tarot readings (link), I talked about the basics of a reading and how readers interpret the tarot cards to give you the message you need to hear at that moment in time.

If you’re curious about tarot or are considering getting a reading, I recommend that you read that blog for some interesting insights into the tarot readers’ art.

I promised a second part diving deeper into preparing your question and what kind of answer to expect from the tarot.

I will also touch on the very important topic of ethics and what tarot should never be used for.

You can ask the tarot whatever you want but if you bring a clear intention and well-thought-out question to the cards, the message will be so much clearer.

You will always get an answer even if it’s not the one you wanted to hear. But the cards never lie or deceive, and I´m just the messenger.

You might just get the answer that, at least at this moment, it is not for you to know the answer to your question.

I remember a very interesting reading that revealed quite a lot about my current situation. There was just one part where the Moon card flew out. The Moon stands for secrets, sometimes it can represent things that are simply not known or one is not aware of, sometimes it can point to something that is done deliberately in the dark. I’m always intrigued to see the Moon card, it’s one of my favorite ones as the profound depths of the human mind and soul fascinate me. So I wanted to know what it was all about. I got out 3 more different decks and after shuffling each one well, guess what…. Each and every one of the 3 decks gave me the Moon card as clarification of the Moon card. One of these hmmm moments. Sometimes, we have to accept that – at least at that moment – it’s not in our best interest to know about something. Much more inner work, getting to know ourselves better and accepting who we are without judgment is needed to illuminate the darkness and uncertainty of a situation.

While sometimes it can happen that the moon gets clarified with the moon, most of the time, the Tarot will provide you with a clear message that will be of use in one way or another.

The way or type of question you ask is very significant and very much reflects the answer you will get. Good preparation and knowing exactly what type of guidance in what area of your life you need is key to receiving clear messages.

I find that the tarot likes open-minded questions. What do I mean by that?

Whereas you can, of course, ask a yes/no question and sometimes this can be very useful within a reading for clarification.

However, remember that the tarot reads and works with energies and the energies present in you and your surroundings are never as clear cut as a yes or a no.

So instead of asking does XYZ love me? You might want to formulate your question in a way that serves you better and helps you see the grand picture of your love life situation. You could ask:

Based on past and current energies present and surrounding me, what do I need to know about this relationship and what can I do to achieve the best outcome for both of us?

See what happened here? The tarot now has much more freedom to get you the messages you need to hear about your relationship. This will surely reveal whether your partner loves you or not but more importantly, the answer will talk about the type of person he/she is, how they impact your energy, what their intentions are, and why this relationship is good for you or not.

It might even open the back door of your mind so that you can become aware of a possible subconscious issue you’re dealing with that is influencing your love life.

Let’s explore the type of answers you might expect from the Tarot cards:
  • 1) The answer to your question can come in therapeutic form, making you aware of subconscious issues that might be blocking you or leading to a certain situation in your life. Knowing about the subconscious corners of your mind as well the intentions of other people in your life can be literally life-changing.

This is why I love this type of reading.

For example, if you asked about your career or job situation, the tarot might bring up your desires or purpose in life and point out the misalignment with your current job.

Or it might show you just why you have never dared to ask for that promotion. These types of answers are meant for reflection and if you are willing to open your mind to the advice the cards offer you, you can use it as an invaluable tool to decide on your next steps based on where an imbalance, injustice, or mindset issue was exposed.

    • 2) The answer can also come in the form of a warning.

Since the Tarot picks up not only on your own energies but as well on those energies surrounding you, you might receive a warning about something.

Is your newest date really who they say they are or is there some hidden agenda or malintention hidden underneath the surface?

Is there someone at your workplace who is working against you?

It’s even possible that the Tarot will show you a danger a close friend or loved one is in if you are very connected to them.

    • 3) Of course, the entire reading will be riddled with direct or indirect advice.

However, you can also ask specifically for advice in a certain situation asking about what would be good next steps to take.

What the Tarot should NEVER be used for

Now that we have covered the type of question that are good to ask of the Tarot, let’s briefly touch on the all important topic of ethics:

There is an energetic balance in this universe which shows itself in the present ´real´world in various forms. We must, at all times, do our best to keep this balance intact. This starts within ourselves. Balancing our emotions, making sure we are treating our bodies well, keeping stress levels low, eating well, and exercising, and keeping our mindset healthy is how we contribute to the overall balance and wellbeing of this planet.

When we start learning about energy, we can also learn how we can use spirituality and even magic to our advantage and possibly someone else´s disadvantage.

Once we get to that point which includes reading the Tarot, we must be very careful to NEVER try to manipulate or influence someone else´s energy.

The Tarot is for information only when it comes to other people. And by that I mean, if the Tarot cards give you information about what someone else is doing to your energy, you should use that information to either protect your own energy or to know when to embrace someone else´s energy, work with it, and give back to them.

Never should this information be the base for binding magic, sending negative or destructive energies to someone, or forcing them to love you by means of magic.

You would be surprised how often people ask for this kind of spiritual service after a reading and I wanted to point this out here that I will never help you manipulate another person´s energy even if you think it’s for their best.
